Healthcare Informatics Cloud (HIC)

Achieving data interoperability for health services to unlock insights, enhance efficiencies and improve outcomes.

Healthcare Informatics Cloud (HIC) from CACI acts as a data aggregator, bringing NHS data together in one place, in one cohesive model, curated for use by multiple user groups.

HIC is designed to support NHS organisations and their stakeholders by bringing data together and providing impactful analytics at the point of need. This supports both tactical operational goals and more strategic initiatives such as those defined in the NHS 10 Year Plan.

The challenge facing health services: fragmented data, rising demand, increasing pressure

Organisations face growing complexity in how data is used, shared and understood:

Diversity of data

Different stakeholders require the same data curated in different ways. This is extremely challenging with existing solutions, leading to a lack of consistency, duplication of data, cost and effort.

Inadequate solutions

Many trusts and organisations within the NHS have procured, created and implemented their own systems to meet a series of short-term needs. Many such systems aren’t interoperable and don’t provide a cohesive picture of organisational data.

Data sharing

Fragmented solutions bring an inability to share data effectively across the NHS. Information becomes siloed, but its value can be found within a joined-up picture. Usefulness of shared data is often at odds with privacy controls too, depleting its value.

Core Vs. Value

Many bespoke solutions in existence are expensive to design, build, maintain and grow functionality within. They can leave many services dependent on inefficient and ineffective systems that fail to deliver the required value.

Federated Data Platform

Adoption of FDP products can realise benefits for NHS organisations as part of a broad set of analytic needs. However, the integration of these capabilities needs to be carefully designed so that it is consistent with other analytic solutions. There is also a significant cost of development, data integration and maintenance within provider trusts to achieve this.

Modernisation

The NHS is awash with legacy software and systems that have been patched and maintained in siloes. Building on, working with and extracting value from such a network is near impossible, especially with the current NHS structure where collaboration is required.

Introducing Healthcare Informatics Cloud (HIC)

Aggregating data from disparate health services to meet current and future healthcare challenges

CACI has been working with the NHS for more than 25 years. Our solutions are fully secure, provided across public and private sectors. Crucially, we’ve designed and developed HIC specifically to meet the challenges of the current and future NHS including the goals within the NHS 10 Year Plan. HIC will support the NHS in meeting these challenges and priorities.

HIC aggregates NHS data into a single cloud-native environment, delivering high-quality, consistent and privacy-protected analytics across multiple settings. It supports operational teams, analysts, clinicians, planners and executives with curated insights at the point of need.

Key features of HIC

Serve up amazing insights from NHS data, easily at the time of need

  • Share data across the Trust and across organisational boundaries
  • Protect patient privacy whist retaining usefulness of data
  • Data augmentation provides deep patient and population insight
  • Overlay cost and activity outcomes
  • Multi-setting apps to support analytics across provider collaboratives and ICSs
  • Empower each NHS organisation to improve its analytics maturity though technology, skills, collaboration and expert support

The benefits: how Healthcare Informatics Cloud (HIC) helps your organisation

Collaboration, flexibility and FDP adoption

The unified cloud data model breaks down provider boundaries, promoting collaboration between organisations. HIC supports a cohesive Federated Data Platform (FDP) adoption design, giving Trusts control and agility over their analytic development priorities. It can be tailored to local needs while leveraging CACI’s ongoing research and development.
