Speed data

Accurate road speed data for route optimisation solutions.

Accurate road speed data is crucial for any optimisation or routing solution. Under or over estimating drive times can have a huge impact on the number of visits that can be planned and also on the level of frustration that your drivers experience.

CACI road speed data uses both the latest GPS information and our years of experience of speed profile modelling to create road speeds that accurately predict journey times at specific times of day or for different vehicle types. CACI also has a routing API that provides real-time journey speeds allowing for roadworks or accidents, helping drivers plan their routes and minimise delivery delays.

In addition, CACI have created a traffic volume index dataset which can be used to identify the relative volume of traffic on every single road link in the UK and Ireland and can be used for site location planning, advertising and traffic modelling.

Road classification speeds

Provide modelled speed values for small vehicles and HGVs based on the road classification and the type of area that the road passes through. It is suitable for strategic route planning or where GPS speed data is not available.

INRIX road speeds

Using billions of GPS readings, CACI’s INRIX speed data provides accurate vehicle specific speeds for small vehicles, vans and HGVs for different times of the day and for different days of the week. The speed data is available for the UK and Ireland and can be supplied with any road network, including OS Highways, HERE and OpenStreetMap.

International road speeds

Created from GPS data for accurate average vehicle speeds linked to HERE or TomTom road data, CACI’s international road speed solutions provide speed profiles down to 5 minute intervals across 7 days of the week. The road speeds are used to identify journey times for different times of the day across multiple countries and are available linked to a vector road dataset or as an API.

Speed limits

Often used in the telematics industry to identify if a tracked vehicle is exceeding the speed limit. CACI speed limit data is linked to HERE or TomTom road data and is available internationally.
