Data Platforms & Pipelines for Government

Data Led, Digitally Ready, Mission Focused

CACI partners across UK Government, National Security, and Defence to design, develop, and manage data structures and pipelinesensuring availability, integrity, and performance so leaders can make faster, better decisions.

What we do

  • Design & operate scalable ETL on Kubernetes with microservices for high availability and adaptability
  • Rules-based transforms and YAML-driven configuration so non-developers can update logic safely
  • CI/CD for rapid, reliable releases (auto-generated Helm configs, version control, early bug detection)
  • Automated regression testing to improve reliability and speed of change
  • Cross-environment reuse of shared components to reduce discrepancies and accelerate delivery
  • Performance, resilience, and observability engineered in from day one

Proven in Defence

Adapt to new data or formats within hours, maintain zero downtime, and deliver with high data confidence.

UK Government Rapid-Adapt Data Processing Platform (ETL)

Challenge

A strategic Government customer needed to manage large volumes of critical data with frequent, short-notice changes across diverse sources and formats. Standardisation was costly and slow, fixed release schedules lacked responsiveness, and the system had to adapt within hours without disrupting services, scaling seamlessly with fluctuating volumes. With vital data knowledge sat with non-technical users, the solution also had to let them drive updates or easily assist others in doing so.

Solution & approach

  • Scaled delivery team Expanded from 10 to 26 specialists to build a robust, flexible ETL capability
  • Customer-driven design Captured requirements across technical estate, data flows, performance, and resilience in close collaboration with users
  • Efficient architecture Built a scalable Kubernetes cluster with microservices, separating extract and transform functions to scale independently
  • Self-sufficient operations Configured critical C++ components via YAML and rule-based models, enabling non-developers to manage updates
  • Accelerated deployment CI pipelines for rapid deployment and version control, auto-generating Helm configurations; CD accelerated releases and surfaced issues early
  • Reliable & reusable Added automated regression testing for reliability and reused shared components across environments to cut discrepancies and speed delivery

Outcomes / benefits

  • Highly reliable, adaptable data processing with zero downtime and high data confidence since CACI’s stewardship began
  • Ability to respond within hours to new sources, formats, or priorities without disrupting services
  • Faster delivery of new capabilities to keep pace with external demands
  • Empowered non-technical users to drive updates safely via rules/YAML
  • Early metrics in place to quantify efficiency gains from proactive patching and reduced remediation
