Partnership provides single-standard NHS reference data

London/Ipswich, 30th September: CACI and UK Health Dimensions (UKHD) today announce a partnership to offer a unique database of healthcare reference data on a UK-wide basis.

The UKHD database will be offered to NHS trusts and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) as part of CACI’s information management system, InView Express.

UKHD has been in use by NHS trusts since 2012. All Commissioning Support Units in England, ten trusts and several other organisations are already using the database. It stores ten years of data in 1,835 data tables containing around 45 million records for easy staff access – the alternative being manual processing equalling 0.5 whole-time equivalents (WTE). The records include ordnance survey data, identity codes for NHS organisations, payment by results data and much more.

UKHD is the only in-house maintained and stand-alone reference database available to the NHS. While there is currently no such database in use across the whole NHS, UKHD is in pole position to become the NHS-wide standard. By adding UKHD to CACI’s InView Express, the database will be rolled out initially to 23 NHS trusts. From here, it can continue to be expanded across the NHS.

Filipe McManus, owner of UKHD, commented on the partnership: “There is a big need in the NHS for a single reference database, presenting a single version of the truth across the country and making employees’ working day easier. CACI’s strong relationship with the healthcare sector, coupled with UKHD’s already strong standing, means that they are in a great position to roll out the UKHD database across the rest of the NHS.”

Graham James, director of healthcare solution sales at CACI, said: “Because of the amount of manual labour spent on data processing across the NHS, the UKHD database is something all NHS organisations should use for keeping their data accurate and up to date. Partnering with UKHD was an easy choice for CACI as the database will be an invaluable addition to our InView Express data warehouse.”

CACI has been working with the NHS for 15 years to create InView Express. It is available on the Crown Commercial Service Framework.
