CACI’s Marketing Solutions Division

WHO ARE WE?

CACI are a leading provider of marketing services to well-known UK brands in industry sectors such as financial services, retail, utilities, charities, telecoms and media.

We help our clients by providing insights about their customers so that they can ensure they send the most relevant marketing offers to the most appropriate people across various channels.

For instance, your bank will want to send you information about products that are relevant to your lifestage from mortgages, loans, pensions through to investments.

We do this by applying our geodemographic and lifestyle data products OCEAN, ACORN and FRESCO (for which CACI is the data controller) to a brand’s customers. This involves the collection and processing of some personal data about the UK adult population.

Our legal basis for processing the data is legitimate interest which does not affect or harm the rights or freedoms of individuals.

THE PERSONAL DATA WHICH WE HOLD

We hold personal information such as names and addresses, email addresses and month and year of birth. We also hold property level information as well as anonymised or aggregated data on lifestyle and demographic behaviours.

WHERE DOES THE INFORMATION COME FROM?

We obtain information about you from sources such as the Edited Electoral Roll (EER) which is a publicly available data source, as well as other open data such as the Land Registry and The Census. This data can include information relating to your name, address, date of birth and information relating to properties such as house value and number of rooms and to the neighbourhood within which you live.

The other main source of data comes from market research surveys where we receive answers to market research questions but this data is anonymised ie we cannot identify the person who gave the responses.

HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use these data sources to create our proprietary data products ACORN, FRESCO and OCEAN. These products help paint a picture of the probable lifestyle and demographic characteristics at either a postcode, household or individual level.

We do this by matching these postcodes, households or name and address records containing the demographic and lifestyle segments/codes to our clients’ customer records.

If you would like to find out how we classify your postcode navigate to our Acorn microsite and enter your postcode.

We occasionally supply the name and address data to organisations who want to send postal direct marketing to people who they think will be interested in finding out about their products and services.

We also use this data to match to cookies and social media profiles to allow advertisers to target digital advertising more effectively.

HOW OUR CLIENTS USE OUR DATA

Our clients use our data to gain more insight on the customers who use their products and services.

Using our data products enables our clients:
  • To work out which customers would be interested in which products and services and therefore develop campaigns which appeal to those customers
  • To develop products and services that will meet the needs of their customers
  • To prospect for new customers using targeted, postal direct marketing
  • To target their digital advertising more effectively
We do not use your data for any automated decision making.  Our clients may use our data for profiling but this will be covered by their own Privacy Policy.

WHO WE SHARE DATA WITH

We share data with our clients and sometimes with resellers (companies which work on behalf of other clients which CACI does not have a direct relationship with).

We also share data with our digital partners as our data helps them to target the right ads to the right people across the internet from websites to social media.

They use this data as described in the section How our clients use our data.

HOW WE KEEP YOUR DATA SAFE

We ensure that there are appropriate technical controls in place to protect your personal details. All our data is kept in secure servers in the UK. No data is transferred outside of the EEA.
