Product Managing Consultant - Data Products and Innovation

This role sits within the Data Products and Innovation team in the Marketing Services Division of CACI Ltd, which includes over 200 people. Within the Marketing Services Division we believe it is our ability to do amazing things with data that sets us apart. From store location planning, logistics, spatial planning, marketing communications and client analytics to
curating, modelling and creating customer and business datasets; we believe everything we do starts with data and ends with action to improve business performance.

To deliver this we use our market-leading datasets and software, of which our data product suite is key. We supply this unique knowledge to a fantastic portfolio of clients around the
globe and across a wide range of sectors; including some of the UK’s leading financial organisations, retailers, restaurant groups, property companies and brand names across utilities, healthcare, automotive, telcos and charities.

The products

CACI have a long and established history with our flagship products Acorn, Fresco, Ocean and Retail Footprint, but as well as these there are a suite of over 30 other data products that
support them. We are continually evolving our product set based on new data sources available.

The Data Products and Innovation team looks after the product suite, supplier management & compliance, and plays a key role in influencing the tech stack that underpins that.

Supported by a significant budget, the data development function sources data from a wide spectrum of suppliers (i.e. open, commercial, government, research, academic) and types
(mobile, consumer, household, spend, location, services / amenities, infrastructural, geographical, environmental) to create data solutions that can be applied across different levels of identification (i.e. individual, household / property, address, geographical, spatial)

The successful creation, evolution and delivery of our product suite is essential to the performance of the Marketing Solutions Division, accounting for an 8-figure annual revenue contribution.

The business is committed to evolve the current data development function (product, people, processes, technology) and ensure that it continues to develop innovative, valuable and profitable data solutions to meet the changing needs of brands and the market.

The role

The purpose of this role is twofold
 a) to contribute to the overall product strategy for our existing product evolution and new product development and
 b) to take ownership of the inception and delivery of some of those products

Key responsibilities

  • Within the context of the over-arching product strategy own the development of 2 or 3 of our core products (which ones tbc based on previous experience) and the sub products that either feed into or flow out of those.
  • For those products own the vision and proposition, product lifecycle, research and analytics, commercials (internal and external), and comms strategy
  • Work alongside the product development team, and if appropriate the data science team, to define the approach, plan and management of delivering and maintaining those products
  • Work alongside the sales team to understand existing, and forecast future, revenues in order to determine business cases for data products
  • Work alongside the supplier team to identify and manage the sources, budget, and relationship with those suppliers
  • Work alongside the marketing team to ensure the execution of the comms strategy
  • Work alongside the insight teams to provide sales collateral to support the products
  • Present information to the sales teams on product updates
  • Be a subject matter expert to provide support to teams and their clients across the business
  • Be a part of the devolved compliance structure within CACI, ensuring own activity is within the CACI interpretation of GDPR
  • Ensure stakeholders across the business are represented and on board
  • Be on top of what’s happening in the market and with our competitors
  • Contribute to the technology conversation
  • Be a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding

Skills, knowledge, experience required

You are passionate about data, someone who has an innovative mind but is also a pragmatist who wants to find new data products and then deliver, taking the business with them. The ability to apply a commercial approach to product development is critical and an awareness of the statistical methods required to deliver such products helpful. Your skills and experience ideally include:

  • Proven experience of leading the successful development and delivery of innovative and profitable 3rd party data solutions
  • Commercially astute with the ability to see the bigger picture whilst managing priorities – with the skills to effectively work with cross functional teams without formal authority
  • An understanding of both traditional and digital data and the applications within marketing
  • Exceptional communication skills the ability to inspire and deliver change – known for getting things done
  • An ability to get into the data would be advantageous, but not critical
  • Solid working knowledge of GDPR and implications for product development.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Personable, passionate and customer focused
