1. Benefit and Mother Clucker partner together to bring Shoreditch a new pop-up that combines both of their talents: beauty and fried chicken

The beauty brand will be showcasing their new matte eyeliner alongside the famous twice-fried chicken with a vegan option containing a pink sauce inspired by Benefit.

2. The surprising partnership between Apple and Samsung will see iTunes movie and TV on Samsung’s smart TVs

Apple’s AirPlay 2 and HomeKit will also be made compatible with LG, Sony, Samsung and Vizio TV’s, marking the first time that the multinational tech company will allow third party devices to access its video library, other than Windows PCs.

3. intu has appointed a contractor for the £86 million transformation of intu Broadmarsh and plan to invest a further £10 million into its Merry Hill centre

The investment aims to “provide a more sustainable, accessible and appealing retail experience for its consumers and to offer an even better experience for local customers and those based further afield”.

4. Amazon are sending select shoppers free samples such as grocery products as part of their latest advertising initiative

Amazon will use shoppers’ purchasing history to select the products and ensure they are individually tailored to their tastes.

5. Greggs, Morrison’s and Dunelm are amongst those who reported strong sales in the Christmas trading period, whilst Footasylum, Mothercare and Sainsbury’s saw a decrease in sales

Slightly above analysts’ expectations, Morrisons saw sales rise 0.6% in the nine weeks up to the 9th of January, accrediting this to their competitive prices.

Next experienced a late surge in online sales after resisting to offer pre-Christmas sales, although shop sales were down 9.2%.

6. Amid the £150 million refurbishment of Barnsley town centre, the first segment in the Glass Works retail and leisure scheme was opened in November

The new market comprises of a series of interlinked market halls across two floors.

7. FTI Consulting have been appointed to advise lenders on their interest in Debenhams ahead of the make-or-break restructuring that will determine the future of the department store

It was announced yesterday that Debenhams saw a sharp fall in sales over the Christmas period, with like-for-like sales dropping 5.7% in 18 weeks to 5th January.

8. London Designer Outlet in Wembley Park celebrates 21 consecutive quarters of revenue growth

Total revenue increased by two per cent and footfall by eight per cent year-on-year over the Christmas trading period.

9. The Co-op are set to open 100 new stores in key city centre locations with approximately one third located in London and the South East.

The grocery retailer is focused on growing their convenience offer and will push the offer to those in transport hubs, university campuses and new communities in high rise residential developments.

10. Halford’s have launched the world’s first 'smart bike'

The hybrid Cybic Legend and electric Cybic E-Legend will offer cyclists turn-by-turn directions, music playlists, weather forecasts, traffic updates and connection to Amazon’s Alexa which offers more general functions.

11. Lush are set to open UK's first 'Naked' concept store allowing users to scan products through the experimental Lush Lens feature

The new concept store is set to open in Manchester later this month after successful launches in the Berlin and Milan branches.
