In 2007, HMRC's prime contractor, Aspire (a consortium led by CapGemini), commissioned CACI to redesign the Self Assessment application, making it simpler to use and able to accommodate the ambitious recommendations set out in the March 2006 'Review of HMRC Online Services' by Lord Carter (Carter Report). The result was an award winning application that is presently delivering efficiency savings to HMRC of £20 million annually.
