CACI and CfBT successfully implement Skills for Life IT Solution in record time

In October 2006 CfBT Education Trust appointed CACI Ltd. as the main technology partner for the Skills for Life Improvement Programme.

CfBT is one of the key contributors to the Governments Skills for Life strategy to help improve adult’s basic literacy, numeracy and language skills. CfBT are delivering the Skills for life Improvement Programme on behalf of The Quality Improvement Agency for Lifelong Learning (QIA).

The main objectives of the Programme are to achieve improved teaching, learning, and professionalism within the workforce. ‘Health Checks’ are being done in adult education establishments nationally with the aim of improving teacher quality standards. Teachers are being encouraged to attend training courses run by CfBT Education Trust and its consortium partners to ensure that their portfolio of skills match the changing requirements of their Teachers and employers

CfBT chose CACI as a partner for this project because of the wide range of unrivalled skills and experience within software application development and systems integration solutions. This partnership builds on a previous successful partnership between CfBT and CACI in delivering Regional Schools Inspection Services.

Kevin Sparks, Enterprise Systems Director commented;

“Once again two outstanding teams from CACI and CfBT have worked in very close partnership to achieve an impressive result! I am delighted at what has been accomplished within such a short timescale, with both organisations taking a pragmatic and determined approach towards reaching the same goals.”

Over a period of only three months, CACI consultants delivered an across-the-board solution to manage and support both the extensive national training programme and ‘cluster group’ guidance meetings.

Nick Olive, Head of Services, CfBT Education Trust said;

“The cohesive approach to planning and implementation has fitted the system exactly to our needs. This is true both from an operational perspective and in relation to the wide breadth of joined-up information that is available to manage the programme.”

The project is focussed on two complementary streams. The first stream delivered a secure online browse-and-book capability for training courses available to literacy and numeracy providers. A powerful workflow engine underpins this system and enables CfBT to manage and report on all of the training events.

The second stream provides online diary management for CfBT advisers. Groups of meetings are managed and booked online; a useful ‘to do list’ links straight from the diary page to meeting reports and action logs. It also addresses workflow management for remote development advisors and is a major strategic toll for the skills sector.
