Portsmouth City Council uses CACI's income data in key housing assessment

Portsmouth City Council published an interim assessment of housing needs and related issues to assist the development of the council's housing strategy. Finding appropriate benchmarks to measure their performance was a key element in the assessment as the average household income in Portsmouth was almost £6,000 lower than average for the South East. This meant that income, ahead of demographic and tenure trends, was the key influence in the operation of the housing market in Portsmouth. Portsmouth used PayCheck, CACI's income dataset to:

Provide supporting information for Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) bids
Make comparisons with national statistics & other local authorities in support of Portsmouth's Anti-Poverty Strategy

Provide average household income data for Wards as part of the Community Section of the recently published Portsmouth City Local Plan Review 2001-2011

"The data has been invaluable, particularly as an indicator of poverty, reinforcing 1991 census data. Its advantage is that it is nation-wide, which means that consistent comparisons can be made."
