Lewisham Healthcare supports service integration with new IT solution from CACI

The data warehouse and business intelligence solution will help the recently merged trust re-align services and improve data quality

11.10.11 - CACI has today announced that it has won a contract to supply Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust, a recently integrated Trust providing acute and community services, with a single data warehouse and business intelligence solution to help improve data quality, KPI reporting and contract monitoring.

Data from a number of clinical data sources, plus HR and finance systems from across the acute hospital and community services, will be integrated into a single data repository to improve the consistency and quality of the data.

The new InView data warehouse replaces two old legacy data warehouses and provides all reporting, analysis and performance monitoring using technology from QlikView and SAP Business Objects. The system will also be fully integrated with CACI's Synergy patient level costing solution, which is already in place at the Trust.

The system will initially be used by the management information department, with phase two of the project providing service managers and clinicians with self-service access to performance dashboards, and statutory and management reports. Lewisham also plan to develop a suite of dashboards for their GP community and the general public.

Commenting on the project, Elisa Steele, IT Director at the Trust, said,

"This project is fundamental in helping us to support the changing service structure as well as the broader pressures we face to more effectively monitor contacts, measure KPIs and report against increasingly complex care pathways. It will also help us to support the information requirements of the emerging GP clinical commissioning groups.

We were impressed by CACI's NHS experience, technical expertise and approach to project management, and the front-end dashboards were particularly important for ensuring everyone involved in decision-making would be able use the system effectively."

Talking about the day-to-day benefits, Elisa added,

"We will be much more confident in the quality of the data because we know we will be working from data sets that have been analysed, cleansed and transformed prior to loading onto an amalgamated view across the whole organisation. This will have a major impact on the day-to-day running of the Trust - such as improving income, supporting clinical engagement and making service trend predictions a possibility."
