CACI's Innovative Software Partnership With Barnsley Council Wins At The Good Communications Awards 2011
09.08.2011 - CACI is pleased to announce that its mobile working solution, designed and implemented in partnership with Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, has helped Barnsley to secure the coveted Mobile Technology Award at the Good Communication Awards 2011. The national awards, which took place on 14th July at the Emirates Stadium, recognise excellence in communications across local and central government.
Barnsley beat the likes of The North Yorkshire Police and Directgov to claim the award for their innovative and inclusive mobile working initiative for community care workers, developed in partnership with CACI.
CACI have worked closely with Barnsley for almost ten years since the successful implementation of CACI's back-office care management solution, OfficeBase. In 2005, CACI undertook a landmark development partnership with the Council to meet their need for an effective and cost-saving mobile working solution to assist carers in delivering care in the community. The inclusive design approach, which involved full consultation with the Council's care workers and unions, resulted in the multi-award winning remote working product, inTOUCH.
CACI's Business Director, Ollie Watson said, "It's becoming a habit, but we're very proud that Barnsley has again been recognised for development of this very special product. The judges obviously considered that real benefits are now being seen both operationally and through cost reductions, which is testament both to the vision of the Council and the product design".
Barnsley MBC's Business Manger of their Independent Living Service, Paul Higginbottom said, "Technology is playing an increasingly important role in enabling us to meet financial challenges and deliver efficiencies, while improving communication and management information, to ensure we meet the needs and choices of our service users. We are delighted to win this prestigious award and would like to thank all our partners who have collaborated so successfully throughout the design, development and implementation. We remain committed to the solution and are currently implementing the technology in our Learning Disability Supported Living Service."
As well as Barnsley's 120 support workers, the CACI solution is now used by over 4000 care workers in numerous organisations across the UK, supporting them in the provision of efficient, high quality community care.
