University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust selects a new IT solution to support FT status
08.10.08 - University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, one of the largest NHS Trusts in the South West region, has selected CACI's InView data warehouse and reporting solution to support its information reporting needs (including Referral To Treatment Pathways, performance monitoring and Payment by Results).
The InView solution will also be used to underpin the Trust's recent transition to Foundation Trust status by improving data quality and the speed of information access and reporting.
InView will integrate data from across eight Trust locations and more than ten clinical and management data sources to provide users with a quick and easy means of accessing clinical, financial and management information, viewed via high level dashboards or detailed reports and analyses.
Chris Green, Information and Performance Systems Manager at the Trust commented,
"Being able to serve our patients and the wider healthcare community effectively under the new Foundation Trust status makes data quality a high priority. Integrating data from across our eight hospital locations, including their many disparate data sources was a critical step in this process. Finding a management information system that could bring this data together in a web-reporting environment was key in our bid to improve the Trust Informatics service. With the help of InView we will be able to gain a complete picture of Trust activity, including the patient pathway and clinical costs, to better support patient services."
The new solution replaces an in-house data management and spreadsheet based reporting system, which was traditionally a very manual and time-consuming process. The Information and Finance departments, as well as Divisional Managers, the Clinical Audit team and the Trust Board, will use the solution.
Graham James, Vice President of Business Intelligence Systems at CACI said,
"We realised back in 2005 that Trusts would require a locally managed enterprise information system to complement the services offered by the National Programme for IT, and so InView was designed to make it easy for clinicians and NHS managers to maximise the use of data available from both National and Local applications. Winning the Bristol tender proves to me that we made the right investment in InView and I am very pleased to be working with such a forward thinking Foundation Trust."
